Teen Summit

Take a pictureEvery year, area teens aged 13 to 18 gather for a free "Teen Summit" hosted by the Colomb Foundation. Last year's event attracted more than 500 participants to enjoy free food, live hip-hop and rap, plus plenty of other entertainment and tons of Yvonne Dorsey speaks to the crowdinformation important to teens. Teens also broke out into small groups for discussions about things like sharing ideas for prom night and safety tips. They were able to obtain photo IDs, find career information, learn about voting, and get the latest 411 on STDs, HIV, teen pregnancy and staying drug free.

The summit was held in the Martin Luther King Center in partnership with the Lafayette Recreation and Parks Commission. The State of Louisiana provided an underwriting grant to help make the meeting possible.
