Reading for Dené

In 2004, the Colomb Foundation published the first in its planned series of free books with a press run of 5,000. How Did She Know That? is designed for children ages 4-6, either to read themselves or for parents to read to them. How Did She Know That? by Patrick WallaceBehind the its entertaining facts, the story is of a child learning that books are a source of knowledge and power. We printed a second edition last year, but those copies, too, were quickly snapped up.

Dené Colomb was an avid reader. She was curious about life in other parts of the world and she said that books let her live many different lives in many places. We know that Dené would be pleased to see other children learning to love reading the way she did.

Family Just Means LoveNext year, the Foundation continues our series with the publication of our second free book, Family Just Means Love. This volume is for children aged 8 to 10 and explores dual themes: adoption and the expanded knowledge that only comes from reading.

We are seeking funding to re-issue How Did She Know That? If you would like details about underwriting this project, please contact us.
